Deplatforming Issues

Good Morning!

I hope you have had a good week! With the sad news yesterday I shared some upbeat and left field stories today. Newsletter #229 and is a 5-minute read, let's dive into this week's intellectual buffet.

Must Read Stories Of The Week

Work Must Reads

> Standing Out 💰 - In a world where it is easy to copy each other and create anything quickly, standing out is so important, this way of gaining attention with micro payments stood out to me, gaining attention by transferring money over emailing or getting a call booked in (airdropping is where you send money into crypto wallets and is used as a Marketing tactic, unfortunately this has found its way to micropayments as scams sending small payments via Venmo, Zelle to get replies and turn them into scams)

> Control? Or The Misunderstood Version Of Control 🤨 - A newsletter I actually like on LinkedIn rightly points out there is a control fallacy, especially important the more senior you become. Control or empower - it is a choice.

> Struggling With Goal Setting 🥅 - Think BIG, act small by when is my personal favourite goal setting framework and here is how it beats the likes of OKRs

Must Read Story Of The Week

> DateMe Docs Aka Google Doc Dating? 📄 - Dating apps are apparently on the way out with younger audiences, with people experimenting with new ways to grab attention or be more “authentically themselves”. A Dropbox paper doc (must reads started on Dropbox paper btw), Google docs and even personal websites are being used, this might sound odd but the way people carefully craft them it makes a lot of sense to me.

> Brands Don’t Just Start A Podcast 🎤- I wrote about why brands shouldn’t just create another podcast that fails and what your actual options are if you're thinking about expanding into podcasts.

> Quick Snack Content 🍬 - Compelling argument on why media owner Axel Springer suggests we should ban TikTok - unlikely thou, & stories told about toxic bosses and why some protect others at all costs. Come on do better!

> What we are all struggling to say...

Life Must Reads

Favourite Story Of The Week

> Even Superheroes Need Help 🦸‍♀️ - One of my favourite Sunday morning activities is finding great new video series to watch, this barbershop conversation is brilliant with the likes of Drew Barrymore, NBA All-Star Kyrie Irving, actor Idris Elba (watch the section on James Bond), actress Drew Barrymore & lacrosse 🐐 Paul Rabil

Chess Scandal 😱

> How Facebook (Groups) Is Helping To Save Snakes 🐍 - Facebook is either good or bad in people's minds and causes huge rifts in families, friends and communities but what it has done well is helped to form huge groups that help to save snakes by identifying them and support each other.

> Must Reads Mix 🎵 Multi genre mix by DJ Blighty

& Well Worth A Watch

Say what you will about Joe Rogan (and his guests) they do however discuss an important movement Deplatforming... and the impact the likes of Andrew Tate have had on social media. The trend platforms are taking these types of characters to remove all monetisation from them from YouTube to social media to payment providers like PayPal. In the near future, the options will be darker and cause more extreme behaviours and controlled by those who say questionable things or gain traction for big statements.
